Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance
There’s only a few days to go until Littlebit turns two. TWO? Where the heck did that time go?
We’re on the countdown to her birthday weekend and I’m starting to get twitchy! What have I agreed to?
We’re off for a day out to Chessington World of Adventures on Saturday. You would not believe how excited about this I am. We’re only travelling the 120 miles as Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, Littlebit’s favourite CBeebies character is live on stage there. She is going to LOVE it, I can’t wait to see her face.
But then Sunday (Littlebit’s actual birthday) the grocery delivery is arriving at 7am. We then have a few short hours to prepare the kids buffet and the separate grown ups one before twelve under 3′s and their parents (so probably around 30 bodies) descend for 2 hours for her Raa Raa themed tots party. Its all about Raa Raa this year!
Then after a brief break twenty plus family and friends will arrive for tea at 430pm.
It’s going to be mad, but it’s going to be fun!
I was taught the six Ps (Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance) by one of my secondary school teachers, many moons ago. I always remembered the saying through school, college, university and into the world of work. My old boss was ex-military and had his own army version “prior planning and preparation prevents piss poor performance”, slightly different but same meaning. He used this a lot. It was drummed into me you could say. But at this point in my life, as a mum to a busy and demanding soon to be 2 year old I couldn’t be more grateful. It’s all about the planning. The only way I’m going to pull this off is with perfect planning.
Thus I have lists of my lists. Thank goodness for my iPhone.
Here’s a quick preview of where I’m at…
… the bunting is made. The pass the parcel is wrapped. The party bags are stuffed and tagged. Only 105 more things to do
can you tell how I LOVE this!
This time 2 years ago I had no clue of what was about to happen over the next few days, I feel much the same this year. Ha!
