Meal Planning Monday

I’ve had a change of diet recently. I’ve not been well for weeks, some undefined virus we think and as such had completely lost my appetite. It’s been great for the weight loss, I weighed in at Slimming World for the first time in 4 weeks last week and had lost 10lbs and hadn’t really been trying.

What this change of appetite had taught me is that I can go for long period of times on fairly little food and survive. It also taught me that I sleep far better if I don’t eat a large meal after 6pm.

This coupled with the recent talk within my friends group on Facebook about “Intermittent Fasting” or the 5:2 diet and the massive health benefits it has got me wondering.

I’ve now watched Michael Mosley’s Horizon episode on the subject 4 times, bought and read 3 books (including his own) and am well and truly embracing the Eat, Fast, Live Longer lifestyle.

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE Slimming World, but the weight just wasn’t coming off at the speed I need to stay motivated. So I’m planning on combining the two, on feast days I’ll do Slimming World and eat my full quota of syns and then do my 2 fast days each week too, and I’ll still be attending my Slimming World class for weekly weigh ins and support.

Monday – dinner at Mum’s

Tuesday – pancakes

Wednesday – slow cooker chicken tikka masala

Thursday – fast day through to 8pm, Amy doing dinner after fat club

Friday – pasta bake

Saturday – slow cooker chilli

Sunday – roast chicken dinner at lunch time, start fast day after lunch

Lovely meals – sounds like you are taking a really sensible approach to the 5:2 thing too. You’ve obviously researched it and applying it to your own context rather than just jumping on a bandwagon. Good luck with it! I’m sorry to hear you’ve been so poorly :(
